Accounts Payable Specialist

SUMMARY

The Accounts Payable Specialist will manage external vendors/internal partners, disbursements, preparation / filing of 1099s and ad-hoc requests.  Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Accounts payable, the Accounts Payable Specialist will help implement policies and procedures across the organization while supporting an implementation of an ERP. Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of various accounts payable functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create new vendors. Ensure compliance with documentation requirements – internal (new vendor forms, banking, etc.) and regulatory (W8 / W9).
  • Record vendor invoices, ensure proper coding and authorization is in adherence to company policy. Manage business partners to ensure timely review / approval of invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls over AP processes.
  • Identify and resolve invoice discrepancies to vendor/suppliers.
  • Prepare and process payments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as necessary.
  • Support the accounting close process as it relates to the AP invoices, accruals, and payments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of experience with Accounts Payable and/or general accounting.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable system implementation preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills required along with unquestionable integrity and judgement.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger reporting / systems (Net Suite, Oracle and/or SAP).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to efficiently provide high-quality work.
  • Comfortable working independently and in a customer service capacity to support the needs of internal business partners and external vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
