SUMMARY:
As Centessa continues to expand its clinical department, we are looking for a Vice President, Global Team Leader. The Global Team Leader will report to the Senior Vice President of Clinical Development, Innovative Medicines. The successful candidate will work across multiple functions across the organization to shepherd and progress an active late-stage development program. This is a highly visible leadership role which will be empowered to set program strategy to advance the product to approval and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership for a cross functional team through effective project management, strong goal setting, well managed team meetings and overseeing the integrated clinical plan deliverables
- Set tone and culture of project team and relevant sub teams; set program vision and strategy
- Work directly with the team to identify any all cross functional dependencies and constraints and facilitate resolution activities to achieve the desired outcomes
- Lead the team in preparation and approval of drug and clinical development plans, budgets, and proposed go/no-go decision criteria for development programs
- Work frequently with senior management to resolve resourcing and strategic options across functions to ensure efficient design and flawless execution of the clinical development plan to maximizes the value of the program
- Monitors the day-to-day interactions with project core and ad hoc team members from various functions (Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Research, Manufacturing, Finance, etc.)
- Be a strong communicator –both written planning and the ability to organize issues and areas that need to be elevated within the plan
- Design and implement fit-for-purpose product development teams appropriate for size and stage of program including sub teams and/or external support when needed
- Prepares project timelines for all activities, resources, and costs to accomplish key milestone dates and build into the project schedule
- Approximately 20-25% travel time will be necessary
- Management for one or more direct reports within program management function
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced professional degree in the life sciences (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent)
- At least 15 years experience in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry, the majority of which should be in portfolio/program management
- 2-5 years line management experience
- Product development experience in benign hematology therapeutic area preferable, though not required
- Experience leading cross functional teams, particularly project teams
- Experience in late phase development, including NDA/BLA filings
- Knowledge of both clinical and manufacturing aspects of drug development
- Experience working on large molecule development programs preferred
- Direct involvement with vendor/CRO management
